1890: Suniti Kumar Chatterjee – popular as National Professor – was born on this day.
1921: Verghese Kurien was born on this day. He is known as Father of Indian White Revolution.
1948: National Cadet Corps or NCC was established on this day.
1949: President on Constituent Assembly signed the Constitution of Independent India. He declared that the Constitution will be effective immediately from the time of signing.
1960: STD or Subscriber Trunk Dialing was introduced on this day for the firsttime. The service was opened between Lucknow and Kanpur.
2008: Lashkar-e-Taiba launches the deadly Mumbai Attacks. The four-day-long henious attack claimed lives of 164 people and injured hundreds more.

1778: Captain James Cook became first European to visit Maui in Hawaiian Islands.
1789: United States observed the national Thanksgiving Day as it was proclaimed by President George Washington upon being requested by Congress.
1812: When Napoleon was retreating from Russia, the Battle of Berezina started.
1863: US President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed 26th of November as national Thanksgiving Day only to be celebrated once a year on the final Thursday of the month of November.
1922: Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter became the two first people to enter Tutankhamun’s tomb in last 3000 years.
1939: Shelling of Mainila took place. It was an event that was orchestrated by army of Soviet Union for justifying the start of Winter War. Soviet army went into war with Finland four days after orchestrating the event.
1943: Luftwaffe sank HMT Rohna by bombing it during an air attack in the Mediterranean. This happened during WWII.
1944: During WWII, a Woolworth’s shop located in United Kingdom was hit by V-2 rocket of Germany. It killed 168 people.
1950: During the Korean War, a massive counterattack was launched by army of People’s Republic of China. The attack was against forces of United Nations and South Korean forces. The counterattack by China led to Battle of Chosin Reservoir and Battle of Ch’ongch’on River. This Chinese counter attack ended every hope of ending the conflict soon.
2011: Mars Science Laboratory launched to Mars along with Curiosity Rover.
