1666: Shahjahan – Mughal Emperor died at the age of 74. He was in captivity under Aurangzeb (Shahjahan’s son) when he died.
1760: The Battle of Wandiwash was won by British. It was fought in Tamil Nadu between the French forces and British forces.
1849: Siege of Multan came to an end on this day with British forces capturing the city. The siege was a part of Second Anglo-Sikh War which ended with British victory and the Sikh Empire came to an abrupt end after the war.
1963: At Dehradun, the National Library for the Blind was set up on this day.

1517: Mamluk Sultanate was defeated by Ottoman Empire in the Battle of Ridaniya and modern-day Egypt was captured by Selim I of Ottoman Empire.
1824: The British forces were defeated by the Ashantis in the Gold Coast.
1905: Bloody Sunday took place in Saint Petersburg and this started the 1905 Revolution.
1917: During World War I, ‘Peace Without Victory’ was called for in Europe by President of still-neutral America.
1919: West Ukrainian National Republic and Ukrainian People’s Republic were unified by the signing of Act Zluky.
1924: In United Kingdom, Ramsay MacDonald became first Labour Prime Minister.
1943: During WWII, Battle of Buna-Gona was fought in which the army and navy units of Japanese forces were defeated by American and Australian forces in a very bitter battle.
1944: Operation Shingle was commenced by Allies during WWII. It was an assault on Italy’s Nettuno and Anzio.
1946: In USA, the Central Intelligence Group was formed. It was the forerunner of CIA or Central Intelligence Agency.
1957: Withdrawal of Israel from Sinai Peninsula.
1968: Apollo 5 lifts off. It carried the first Lunar Module into space.
