1824: Birth of Dayanand Saraswati, social reformer and founder of Arya Samaj. His real name was Mul Shankar Tiwari.
1871: Birth of Charles Freer Andrews, close friend of Gandhi and a social reformer.
1922: After the incident of Chauri Chaura (on 5 February 1922), Gandhi stopped the Non-cooperation movement on a national scale on this day.

1502: Crown of Castile’s Queen Isabella I issued an edict to outlaw Islam. This forced her muslim subjects to convert into Christianity forcefully.
